James DeWitt

James DeWitt’s life reads like an epic novel, a journey mapped from the murky waters of the Homosassa swamps to the tense corridors of global power. His story began in a Florida childhood defined more by love than material wealth, a foundation that would carry him through the defining chapters of his life. He served with honor for over twenty-five years in the U.S. Air Force, a career that thrust him into the jungles of Vietnam and placed him at the heart of historic events, witnessing things few ever will.

But the most compelling battles were often those waged within—the silent scars of war, the sting of profound loss, and a searching faith that refused to abandon him. Jim’s path was not a straight line to redemption but a winding road marked by doubt and divine grace. These lived experiences are the bedrock of his storytelling. He writes not as a distant observer, but as a man who has stood on the fragile line between life and death and recognized the hand of God pulling him back.

Now in his later years, he has traded his uniform for a different calling. Jim devotes his time to mentoring, teaching, and sharing his story as a Gideon, passionately believing that no life is beyond hope and no story is too small to matter. He and his wife, Susie, live a life dedicated to service, a testament to a truth he discovered late: our greatest legacy is not in what we accomplish for ourselves, but in the lives we change for others.
